We hope this message finds you well during these unprecedented times. Below please find an announcement from Parks Canada released on March 17, 2020:
In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and reduce risks to employees and visitors, Parks Canada is implementing a temporary closure of all its visitor facilities across the country effective Wednesday, March 18, 2020.
These closures will be in place until further notice. The health and safety of Canadians, our visitors and our team members is of the utmost importance to us – learn more here. Since this is an evolving situation, Canadians are encouraged to visit Canada.ca/coronavirus for the latest information.
As per the above announcement, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site will be closed until further notice.
The closure will affect bookings, programs and events that were scheduled to take place at the site between March 18th and April 15, 2020, including the following:
Spring Break – Mystery at the Museum, March 18 to 29, 2020—cancelled
Cannery Farmers’ Market, March 22 and April 5, 2020—cancelled
River’s End Fisher Poets, March 28, 2020—postponed
The temporary closure will be re-evaluated on an on-going basis; we will provide updates on our website as more information becomes available.
