Book some time for the holiday season

Some things never go out of style, like the
time-honoured tradition of curling up with a good book in front of the
fireplace as a way to relax during the hectic festive season.
The Richmond Public Library is the perfect
source to check out a favourite title, new or old. And throughout the month of
December and into early January, the library also has many free family-friendly
events planned for the holidays giving you a break from all the hustle and
bustle.
The main Brighouse branch kicks off the
festivities with a string instrument concert by the Richmond Delta Youth
Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10:30 a.m. And don't miss the opportunity to check out the Thursday,
Dec. 13 feature. At 4 p.m., Winter Wonderland: A Holiday Celebration will
feature a puppet show, sing-along, green screen photo booth, games and a
self-guided Storywalk.
The library's smaller branches will reflect
the holiday spirit too. On Tuesday, Dec. 4 or Thursday, Dec. 13, visit Ironwood
for Cozy Storytime at 7 p.m.
Steveston is offering a winter sing-along on
Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m., while Cambie has winter-themed writing games and
stories on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 3:30 p.m.
The library will also be holding a reading
challenge throughout the winter break. Participants in The 14 Days of Reading
are encouraged to pick up an activity list at any branch starting Dec. 21 and
complete the challenge for a chance to win book prizes.
