Canada Post driver charged in fatal crash

The 44-year-old driver of a Canada Post Freightliner truck has been charged in the fatal December 2017 crash that claimed the life of a 27-year-old Richmond woman.
Vancouver’s Rajwinder Singh Goraya has been charged with two counts under the Motor Vehicle Act: driving without due care and attention and failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Richmond RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang said Thursday afternoon that the BC Prosecution Service approved the pair of charges.
The crash occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 27 shortly after 2 p.m. at the corner of Sea Island Way and Garden City Road, a short distance from Costco and River Rock Casino Resort.
Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, police announced at the time.
The victim in the crash wasEstherSita Anthonyraj Achari, who was living in Richmond and working at Minoru Residence while studying to become a registered nurse after working as a nurse in Mumbai, India.
A GoFundMe page was set up in her name, and raised more than $23,000 to pay for her funeral expenses and to return her body to her family in India.
