B.C. reports 287 new cases of COVID-19, one death

B.C. health officials reported 287 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 355,935 cases.
The numbers of new and total cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh, according to a B.C. government news release.
Of the new cases, 67 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 75 in the Fraser Health region, 63 in the Island Health region, 61 in the Interior Health region, 21 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 273 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 46 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,484,833 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,350,994 of those are second doses and 2,663,607 are third doses.
This means that 93.8 per cent of adults, 93.4 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.8 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.5 per cent of adults, 91 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 87.3 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 59.2 per cent of adults and 57.5 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there was one new COVID-related death reported today, bringing that total to 2,990. The person lived in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported one new health-care facility outbreak. Active outbreaks continue at six long-term care facilities and one acute care facility.
From March 21 to 27, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 16.5 per cent of cases and from March 14 to 27, they accounted for 22.3 per cent of hospitalizations.
