B.C. health authorities reported 2,239 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday. This is an increase of 547 from last weekend’s three-day count.
The 876 cases logged between Friday and Saturday mark a five-month high. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 184,780 cases.
Of the new cases, 256 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 857 in the Fraser Health region, 230 in the Island Health region, 525 in the Interior Health region, 358 in the Northern Health region and 13 new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

To date, 7,802,535 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 3,729,606 of those are second doses.
This means that 88.2 per cent of adults and 87.7 per cent of people aged 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 81.3 per cent of adults and 80.5 per cent of those aged 12 and older have received two doses.
Sadly, there were 18 new virus-related deaths reported since Friday, bringing that total to 1,940. Of those who died, six lived in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, three in the Fraser Health region, three in the Island Health region, five in the Interior Health region and one in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported four new healthcare facility outbreaks and declared five over. Active outbreaks continue at 15 long-term care facilities, four assisted or independent living facilities and one acute care facility.
There is also a new outbreak at Maple Ridge Christian School, making it the second school in the Fraser Health region to have a listed outbreak.
In Island Health, ten schools are listed as having active “clusters,” meaning there have been two or more confirmed cases within a 14-day period and evidence of transmission occurring within the school without another likely source of exposure.
