B.C. reports 87 new COVID-19 cases

Health authorities have reported 87 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C. since Friday, bringing the provincial total to 147,790.
Of those, 652 are active with 85 people hospitalized, 22 of whom are in critical care.
Only five of the new cases are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 33 in the Fraser Health region, one in the Island Health region, 45 in the Interior Health region, one in the Northern Health region and two new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
Sadly, there were three new virus-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 1,759.
To date, 5,288,644 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 1,668,268 of those are second doses.
This means that 78 per cent of eligible people 12 and older have received their first dose of a vaccine, and 36 per cent have received a second dose.
Active outbreaks continue at two long-term care, assisted living and independent living facilities and three acute care facilities.
