Contraband cigarettes seized by RCMP

Richmond Mounties seized 300,000 contraband cigarettes and arrested two women after receiving a tip about an illegal shipment early last month.
Richmond RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang said the two suspects were seen on the 16000 block of Portside Road, in East Richmond near the foot of No. 8 Road. They were loading the shipment into a Toyoto minivan.
Two women, from Richmond and Vancouver and in their mid-50s, were arrested.Neither is known to police.
The 1,500 cartons of seized cigarettes is the equivalent of 300,000 individual cigarettes, police said.
