Pedestrian dies after struck by truck near Costco

A 27-year-old Richmond woman has died of her injuries after being struck by a truck while crossing the street at Sea Island Way and Garden City Road Wednesday afternoon, a short distance from Costco and River Rock Casino Resort.
According to Richmond RCMP, the pedestrian was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following the collision around 2 p.m.
Neither speed nor alcohol are believed factors in the collision, Mounties said in a press release.
The RCMP’s road safety unit is now investigating the crash, along with the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and BC Coroner’s Service.
